Portraits and Apple Pickin’

Date September 27, 2009

s41200ca108643_12_1.jpgWe went for a family portrait on Friday. It had been over 3 years since the last time. We also got shots of Aiden and Connor. They both did a good job. s41200ca108643_20_0.jpgAiden was telling the photographer how we should pose. Click here to see the portraits!

On Saturday we went to Apple Holler in Wisconsin to go apple picking. It was about an hour and 15 minute ride up without traffic. It was kind of a wet and muddy day in the orchard but we had a good time. It was nice to be in the country. We also had a big breakfast at the orchard restaurant. DSCF5316.JPGConnor hung out in the back pack carrier. He was happy holding onto an apple - he eventually figured out he could take bites of it which he also enjoyed. DSCF5313.JPGAiden enjoyed just being out in the orchard and exploring in the fields. There was also a pretty big play area. We wound up with over 20 pounds of apples (the minimum you could pick). We also brought home some apple butter and apple cider. We’ll be eating apples for breakfast, lunch and dinner this week! Pictures are posted in the Fall 2009 gallery!

Pictures updated

Date September 19, 2009

This Summer sure has flown by. Sorry we haven’t written much about what’s going on with our family. I did get a chance this week to at least update our picture gallery. I updated the Birthday’s Album and added albums for Aiden’s 4th Birthday and Connor’s 1st Birthday. I also updated the Summer 2009 album (page 27 and higher are new pics) and added albums for our trip earlier this month to Montague, MI, to spend the weekend with the Beaupre-Harrie side of the family and Aiden’s first day of school.

Sorry we haven’t been able to post much over the past few months. We’ll try to get up a few stories soon, I promise.

In the meantime I added a bunch of pictures last night. Here are thumbnails of a few of the images. But check out the updated Spring 2009 and Summer 2009 galleries. The Summer 2009 gallery has pictures from our trip to Disney World and Aiden’s 4th birthday.

Vacation starts now!

Date May 3, 2009

Well we made it to Sunny Florida today. Aiden was good on the plane and just watched movies. Connor slept for about an hour and either played or ate the rest of the time . . . Up until the landing. He didn’t much care for that, and wanted to let everyone know about it.

Both boys fell asleep on the drive to the resort from the airport, which took a little longer than expected due to a missed turn. So they got a decent little nap. We ate dinner nearby the resort and then checked in. Amy and the boys checked out the pool and the lakeside beach while I checked in. By the time I found them at the beach Aiden had taken off his shoes and socks and was bouncing along in the sand. Amy told me he said “I gotta take my shoes off and play in the sand!”

Our room/condo is really nice. It’s the same layout as last year - 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full kitchen, laundry and living room. Both boys are asleep now. Aiden has his own room with a queen size bed and Connor is sleeping in a pack-n-play in the master bathroom off our room. Not quite equal accommodations for the boys, but it should work.

We’re looking forward to a good week of rest and relaxation. The weather is supposed to be clear skies and 90 degrees every day. We’ll probably head over to Disney World for a few days and just chill here at the resort for the rest of the week.

Also, if you’re on facebook, I’ll put some updates out there throughout the week.

(by the way, if there are a lot of typos in this post, sorry. I’m writing this on my phone : )

Updates

Date April 11, 2009

Sorry we haven’t been doing many updates to the site lately. 2009 sure has started out pretty hectic. Amy and I have both been busy at work and things are much busier at home with 2 kids. It’s hard to believe it’s already mid April and Easter is tomorrow. We were just thinking about the fact that Aiden was still in his crib last year at this time. He’s such a big boy now that just seems crazy. He’s been on Spring Break this week from Breakthrough Beginners, so I took off work Thursday and we went downtown to Navy Pier to watch Monsters vs Aliens in 3D at the IMAX. It was pretty fun. I was also off yesterday, so I had a chance to stay home and watch both the boys (which is good in moderation). Aiden’s pretty crazy right now. He’s a constant ball of energy, which either cracks us up . . . or gets him in trouble.

Connor is doing well and sleeping though the night now (mostly). He’s already got 6 teeth - 4 on top and 2 on the bottom - but he’s still seems tiny compared to Aiden at this age. At his 6 month checkup Connor was 16 lbs 6 oz and 27 inches. sm_boys.jpg At 4 months Aiden was 16 lbs 6 oz and 28 inches long. Connor does seem more vocal than Aiden was and is more attached to people. He gets really excited when Amy or I come home and will kick, bounce and wiggle his hands to try to get at us.If you don’t pick him and give him a hug he starts to whine. He’s developing some baby body language and shakes his hands back and forth to let us know he wants to be picked up or is ready to get out of his high chair. He’s also eating more solids - cereals, fruits and veggies (which he seems to take better than Aiden did).

Well, I did get a chance to post a few new picture galleries tonight. We went downtown today to get portraits taken of Connor. It’s hard to believe he’s already 7 months. I posted the pictures in the Spring 2008 gallery.

I also put some pictures and videos from the last few months in the Winter 2008 gallery.

Connor’s check-up

Date February 23, 2009

I was thinking I needed to schedule’s Connor’s 6-month checkup for next week and realized we’d never posted his four month checkup results. Connor had his four month checkup on January 6. He was 27 inches long (which put him in the 95th %) and 14.3 lbs (which put him in the 30th %). I think the 6 month checkup will have similar results - he is definitely a long, skinny baby. He’s starting to sleep a little better - he had a couple of nights last week where he slept from about 8:30 to 5:00 in the morning which was wonderful. The last few nights, however, he’s back to getting up at around midnight and 4 am. 0901030104.JPGHe’s got his bottom two teeth and he also starting to expand his diet and eat more cereal. He’s tried apples and butternut squash, which he seemed to like. He still isn’t rolling over or moving around much when you put him on the floor.

What’s great is how excited he is when he’s sees us. When I come home from work he smiles and starts kicking his legs and waving his arms. He’s also big into making a “mmmmm” sound. He loves playing with his toys and standing in his exersaucer. He also loves his big brother - Aiden can really get him laughing.

The last two months have been such a stressful blur - working way too much at my new position and being home way too little. Thankfully this is the worst it should be all year and we should be filing our annual report tomorrow! I’m really looking forward to slowing down and being able to enjoy the next few months.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (belated)

Date February 23, 2009

We had a great Christmas! We spent the week in Michigan at my parents’ house. It was nice to relax and have time to spend with family. Aiden got everything he wanted for Christmas - Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the Wall-E Leapster game - plus a lot of surprises. Christmas morning was a lot of fun, although we still had to push him to keep opening his presents. Once he opens one thing he wants to stop and play with it.

0812250007.JPGHe also got Spike the Dinosaur, which he’d seen on TV and in Target and thought was so cool. We weren’t going to buy it for him because it was expensive and big, but shopping on Dec 23 we saw and thought how excited he would be so see it on Christmas morning. We had taken it out of its box and put a bow on it so that he could play with it right away. Later, however, he saw the box in garage. He told John that he didn’t think Santa had brought Spike and that Grammy had gotten it at a garage sale. John was able to convince him it was Santa, but I guess we better leave things in their original packaging so he doesn’t think they’re second hand. We probably should have stuck to our original decision to not buy Spike. Aiden was excited, but as we expected, it’s hardly been played with since Christmas.

Poor Connor had a kind of tough time at Christmas. He wasn’t sleeping well - we think he was teething, he had a pretty bad case of eczema all over his body, and he was just generally fussy.

0812280067.JPGWe spent Christmas day with the whole Pasqual family at Ellen and Joe’s house. Aiden had a great time playing air hockey and seeing his cousins. We also were able to go to Findlay to see John’s family.

We spent New Year’s Eve with the Curry’s again this year. It’s great to have such good friends living right next door. We were able to just hang out, watch a movie, and ring in the New Year with a glass of champagne or two (and sparkling grape juice)! Aiden was up past midnight and still was bouncing off the walls - he’s just like the Energizer bunny. That kid just doesn’t sleep unless you force him into a dark, quiet room.

It’s almost Christmas!

Date December 21, 2008

wonderland-cookie-sm.jpgWe had a “super” fun day, as Aiden would say, enjoying some Christmas activities.

This morning the four of us went to Winter Wonderland at Navy Pier. They have the main hall really decorated with lots or rides and activities for kids. There was a giant slide, carousel, and a big ferris wheel and kiddie ferris wheel. The best part was watching Aiden on the kiddie ferris wheel. He was brave enough to go on by himself, but had a look of terror the entire time during the loading. Once it started going around he was fine, but the look during the stop and go was priceless. He also did cookie decorating - he used white and green and red frosting and red and green and blue sprinkles - boy did that look delicious. One of the last activities was a “snow” ball fight with blue nerf balls in a big netted off area. Both Aiden and John really got into it. We went early so it wasn’t too crowded and even by the time we left it wasn’t too terribly crowded. Overall we had a great time.

This evening was the Breakthrough Youth Christmas celebration. The highlight of the night for us was the pre-school singing performance of “Baby Jesus.” This was Aiden’s first performance in front of a group. He was a shepherd dressed in a bright blue bath robe, his friend Summer was Mary holding a baby doll Jesus, there was a Joseph, three kings and a group of Angels. Aiden was hilarious - he sang really loudly about three words behind everyone else. He also spun his “shepherd’s staff” (a cardboard wrapping paper roll) like a baton the entire time. His teacher, Mrs. Lisa, was trying to lead the song and lost it laughing.

Click Here to download a video of the song!! It’s a little shaky because I was laughing pretty hard, but still funny.

Big boys @ 3 months

Date December 7, 2008

Everyone’s been saying how much Aiden and Connor look alike - and there are times when they definitely do. So we decided to take Connor’s picture in one of Aiden’s old outfits. In the pictures below both boys are 3 months old. Aiden’s on the left and Connor’s on the right.
